I have been making documentaries for over 30 years, mainly for Dutch public broadcasters. The documentaries are often about socio-cultural subjects and are characterized by a personal approach. Some of my productions include: Branch 13, 4-episode series about iconic Dutch department store HEMA; A Trip Along the Rhine; From Almelo to America, about famous Dutch singer Ilse DeLange who tries to establish a career in the USA. Alongside my work for public broadcasters I also work on my own projects.

As a filmmaker I am inspired by Direct Cinema pioneer Richard Leacock. In my recent independent projects I have gone back to my roots as a filmmaker: I have been following my curiosity and diving into different worlds and other people’s lives. Giving the viewer the feeling of being there, in an unpolished way. Operating as a one-man-band: intimate, close to the protagonist, involved and with a good eye for detail.
